We are currently seeking a Field Engineer for our 1 Bloor West Project. This Field Engineer is responsible for the development and day-to-day site coordination of the structure and civil work. The Field Engineer will report to the Project Superintendent & General Superintendent.
Creates, maintains, and executes the project plan and schedule; and ensures compliance with budget.
Create a team atmosphere within project teams, inclusive of subcontractors and trade labor.
Supervises and coordinates all construction activities as directed by the General Superintendent.
Supervises, directs, coaches, and trains Project Engineers, Field Engineers, Students, and other staff assigned to project.
Creates site specific plans and procedures; ensures the implementation of CCM’s Safety Program to create a safe work environment throughout the jobsite; adheres to the safety and record keeping requirements; integrates CCM’s Safety Program in all site-specific plans and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
Ensures project materials and workmanship meet the project Quality Standards and Design requirements.
Obtains necessary information from engineers, designers, inspectors, municipal/provincial authorities and owners.
Advises senior management of potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts; anticipates and resolves project issues and schedule difficulties
Maintains the project’s Daily Job Diary.
Minimum of eight (3) years of experience as a Field Engineer for a commercial general contractor or equivalent.
Experience on commercial /Industrial construction building projects of $10M+.
Experience supervising and mentoring large crews; ability to manage others.
In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and company operations specifically construction specifications, building materials, methods and procedures.
Ability to apply complex engineering principles to construction challenges.
Ability to visualize the entire project and anticipate constructability issues and embed solutions in the construction plans and schedules.
Ability to visualize and create the project schedule’s critical path.
Ability to schedule, monitor, and forecast resources for optimum efficiency.
Ability to manage many facets of the construction project and assume responsibility.
Must understand and abide by all government processes and regulations
Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Understands when to seek out professional advice.
Must possess a valid Driver License.

Plan and design major components of the projects such as Structure, Civil works, Finishes, Building Systems, Municipal Services and structural steel fabrications
Implement construction specifications and procedures
Evaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materials
Interpret, review and approve survey and civil design work
Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations
Establish, monitor, maintain and update construction work schedules
Prepare contract documents and review and evaluate tenders for construction projects
Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates
Responsibility for Concrete Take-offs and Monitoring Concrete Progress in regard to the Structure
